Purim Nail Art: Esther's Crown and Confetti

Nothing to Disclose

Today is the day of Purim (it started last night) and because Purim is a celebration, I did a fun confetti look with Esther's crown. Let's get to the details!

Purim Nail Art: Esther's Crown and Confetti

I began with one coat of Cirque Colors Rococo which is a gold holographic polish. Then I added one coat of Lacquistry Amazeballs over the holo. The sun went away but randomly came out while I was in a parking lot, so I quickly snapped a pic!

Then using a bunch of Cirque Color holos, I painted on confetti! Colors included Plur, Royal Hawaiian, Tangerine Dream, POP! and more.  Lastly, I used a stamp from a new Lady Queen beauty plate for a crown (full review on that plate coming up). The black didn't pop as much as I wanted, so I outlined the crown with more black polish.

Easter Nail Art: Hatched Chick Nail Art with Flocking Powder

Nothing to Disclose (except cuteness)

Hello there! Now that Purim is over, I'm going to focus on some Easter Nails. Easter has all sorts of symbolism, but I'm focusing on the cute commercial side. Easter chicks are everywhere (hello Peeps!). They are fuzzy and cute, which means FLOCKING POWDER TIME!! I upgraded the hatched chick nail art to the next level. Let's take a look.

Easter Nail Art: Hatched Chick Nail Art with Flocking Powder

First I painted my nails with one coat of OPI I Just Can't Cope-Cabana. It will not be opaque but you don't need it to be! Then with a white creme and an art brush, I painted on my egg shells. These don't need to be perfect. When do you ever perfectly crack an egg?!

Then I added one coat of top coat and waited about 10 minutes. After that, I painted on top coat, one nail at a time, to JUST the yellow section of my nail. I do one at a time because then I dunk my nail into the flocking powder. If you do all the nails at once, the top coat may dry before you dunk.

Lastly, I added eyes and a beak to these cuties. They are so fuzzy!

I always finish flocking powder nails by going outside and clapping my hands to get the excess off. I look nuts, but whatever. Aren't this adorable?! Flocking powder lasts about 2 days for me and then starts to fall off. This is why I put a base of yellow under it so it isn't as obvious.

I'm back again, with the need to use more flocking powder, but this time, for BUNNIES. Even better, bunny butts! Cottontail bunnies are so so cute, and I had to play upon those cutie tails.
Easter Nail Art: Fuzzy Bunny Bottom Nail Art

I started with a base of Paint Box Polish Puffo, from the new Gelato collection! 2 coats perfection. It's like a bright pastel--hard to explain but super gorgeous!

Then I added my grass with Paint Box Polish Pistacchio, Jessica Cosmetics Meet at the Plaza, and Barry M Spring Green.

I added two white circles and pointed ears with a white creme polish and a nail art brush. Like my hatched chicks, I top coated and waited about ten minutes. Then I painted on top coat, JUST ON THE WHITE BUNNY, and dunked one nail at a time into the white flocking powder. I thought I was done.

Easter Nail Art: Fuzzy Bunny Bottom Nail Art

But then I grabbed Paint Box Polish Fragola, dotted on a circle, and dunked it into pink flocking powder. Then I squee'ed and thought this was even cuter than the chicks.

So which flocking powder manicure do you like better? The chicks or the bunnies? I love both but something about those bunnies!!

Easter Nail Art: Easter Eggs Nail Art with Paint Box Polish Ciao, Gelato Collection

For my last Easter nail art, I wanted pastels all the way! What better way to do this than with the new Ciao, Gelato collection. My students raved over this manicure, so let's see if you enjoy it. It isn't anything new, but the Gelato collection works so well together and this manicure emphasizes that.
Easter Nail Art: Easter Eggs Nail Art

I used 6 out of the 8 new Gelato collection colors: Puffo (blue), Melone (orange), Fragola (pink), Ananas (yellow), Pistacchio (green), Fruiti di Bosco (purple).

I painted each nail a different color. 2-3 coats depending on the colors. (You can see my full review of each color HERE.) I let the base dry for 5-10 minutes before doing art.

Then I added drops of nail polish onto my artist palette (which is a piece of tin foil) and with a dotting tool and a striping brush, I randomly added squiggles and dots. I didn't think about it too hard beyond not putting orange dots on the orange nails (duh). The more random the designs, the better! I topped it all with one coat of top coat and this is what my mani is right now!

Hello All! Anyone in academia knows that Spring Break happens which equals midterms and then midterm grades + papers, and drowning and thus, is my life. I have barely had a chance to do my nails since Easter. We are talking once a week, people! My helmers are crying from their lack of use! I'm in the final stretch, but I've finally got some manicures to show you and have tons of awesome nail art reviews coming up! I had been wanting to do these nails since I received this collection and finally had a free moment for art AND I'm back with the Nail Challenge Collaborative and the theme is SWEETS. Perfect! It's also 70 degrees today, so I've earned this ice cream!

Ice Cream Drip Nail Art with Paint Box Polish Ciao, Gelato Collection

I started with a base of two coats of Stracciatella. Then I chose 5 of the cremes to do my gelato/ice cream drips: Fruiti di Bosco, Ananas, Pistche, Fragola, and Puffo. I just randomly painted on ice cream drips. Then lastly, I took Bacio and outlined my ice cream drips as chocolate syrup. They also look like paint drips, which basically looks the same as melted ice cream. I used one coat of top coat.

Lace Stamping with Lady Queen Plates and OPI Excuse Moi!

I've really been getting into stamping. I may venture out into decals soon but for now, I've enjoyed some good old stamping. Today, I'm showing you a new plate from Lady Queen. They have released an entire line of lace design stamping plates, and I've been enjoying using it the past few weeks.

Lace Stamping with Lady Queen Plates and OPI Excuse Moi!

I started with a base of OPI Excuse Moi which is an oldie but goodie. I have only about 5 untrieds in my collection so I've been enjoying reaching for old favorites. It's a pink jelly base filled with rainbow glitter. LOVE.

OPI Excuse Moi!

OPI Excuse Moi!

Now on to the plate itself. It came with protective blue covering for safe transit. I used my rectangle white squishy stamper that I got off Amazon and Moyou Black Stamping polish and had zero issues lifting the images.

The images are fairly smaller than other large plate images. For example, here is a comparison of Lady Queen against the Girly Bits plate. Lady Queen is a bit more narrow on the left so I had issues with full coverage on my thumb. Otherwise, the image did fit my other nails.

Plate Comparison

I easily stamped the larger images on a piece of paper and used five images on my nails. The only issues I had were with the smaller crown images that didn't pop as much as I wanted it to. I matted the whole thing and isn't it awesome?!

Lady Queen Nail Art Stickers

Today I have a simple nail art look that I really struggled with and didn't even want to show, so let's discuss.

Lady Queen Nail Art Stickers

I ordered these water decals from Lady Queen Beauty and was super excited with the patterns and was more excited how the colors in the neon stars perfectly match my collaboration color with Girly Bits, Stardust. I am not new to water decals at all, so I was psyched.

The full nail water decals arrived as below. As you can see, these are very narrow and no way could these ever fit my nail fully. But cutting them would create a weird design? Well I tried anyway. I tried to remove the thicker plastic coating, and to my surprise, these are NOT water decals, but STICKERS. But they were such THICK stickers. So I attempted soaking them in water anyway, but that didn't work. I ended up tossing a lot of the star stickers before getting any good photos because the water messed them up.

Lady Queen Nail Art Stickers

Then I looked at the geometric design and attempted to cut out triangles and place them down. As you see, they had a tendency to curl up on my curvy nails.  I went to the Lady Queen site to see if others had uploaded photos of themselves successfully using these decals, but nope, no photos.

Not sure what is going on with this product, but really, I see them as working as nail art stickers for little kids. I can't figure out any other way to use them. If you can figure them out, let me know in the comments!

Head to www.ladyqueen.com to grab the stickers for $2.49  HERE: http://www.ladyqueen.com/1-sheet-nail-art-nail-wraps-fashion-geometry-pattern-na0395.html

Sprinkles Nail Art with Lady Queen Nail Gems

I'm continuing the Sweet theme for the Nail Challenge Collaborative with some sprinkles nails! I previewed this on IG when I totally exploded one of the nail gem pods so let's see the result!

Sprinkles Nail Art with Lady Queen Nail Gems

As I mentioned above, I did indeed drop an entire pod of gems, so my warning is that you be VERY gentle when you open up these gems.

Sprinkles Nail Art with Lady Queen Nail Gems

Luckily, this set from Lady Queen comes with 12 pods. I thought, hey! I can give some to friends and what a great big set. Then I immediately dropped an entire pod and thought, now I get why I have back up. These pods are filled to the brim too! This set comes in silver, gold, pastel, and multicolor!

I began with two coats of Zoya Tulip. After I put the second coat down, I let it remain tacky and rolled my nail into the gems. Since they were all over my desk, I rolled them on my desk, but you could easily roll your nail, one at a time, in the pod.

LOOK AT THE SPRINKLES! AREN'T THEY ADORABLE? This is fun nail art and doesn't feel annoyed as you would think since the nail gems lay flat.

I then played with just doing nail gem tips with the pastel gems, which I did below. I just dipped in the tip of my nail and it's pretty cute! Reminds me of a baby shower.

I really wanted a spring look with the entire Zoya Petals collection. I'll have swatches up soon, but I wanted to show you this simple art. What's better is that Zoya currently has their Earth Day promo going on, where you can get polishes for 50% off. More details are the end of my post.

Dry Brush Nail Art with Zoya Petals Collection

I started with a base of Zoya Leia, which is really a shimmer top coat. If you don't mind visible nail line, you can do 3-4 coats. I did 2 for my base since I knew I would cover it.

Then using the other five colors from the Petals Collection: Tulip, Aster, Zahara, Azalea, and Laurel, I dry brush the tips of my nails. I did the corals first since they are similar and Aster (purple) and Azalea (bright pink) last since they stood out more. It's sparkly and delicate. Topped with one coat of top coat.

Happy Earth Day! I decided to wear a festive mani for today to celebrate the earth--so of course, I chose the earth!

Earth Day Nails! Earth Nail Art with Illamasqua Cameo and Omen

Nothing too complex here! I started with a base of two coats of Illamasqua Cameo, a beautiful blue creme. Then I dab on land-like blobs of Omen and the end! Can't get simpler than that. I opted for no top coat because Cameo dries shiny and I liked how Omen was slightly matte.

Don't forget to recycle and love this planet!

Who doesn't love a good emoticon? Sometimes they are too much fun to use and I use way too many.

I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and painted on giant yellow dots with OPI I Just Can't Cope-cabana. Then I added smaller dots. I drew smiley faces in the larger circles. Lastly, I added the magnifying studs over the emoticons. I fudged the index and pinky but the middle nails came out well!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Foux du Fafa Collection: Flight of the Conchord Cremes

Good morning! Today I have a creme collection from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer. I love the inspiration: Flight of the Conchords! I love the band, the tv show, all of it. I actually saw them in concert in 2009 and will be seeing them again this summer. Maybe they will even do a third season! Onto the polishes:

All polishes are thick and opaque, as they are meant to stamp. I hope to get stamping done with them soon but I really wanted to get the colors up first. For now, here are the colors alone with top coat.

Each color has three photos: 1. artificial light, 2. direct sunlight, 3. shade.

We're Vincible: 1-2 coats. This is a mustardy yellow creme. It's pretty thick so one coat is enough but Julie will be reformulating it so it is a tad less thick. The guys, Bret and Jermaine, discuss their hurt feelings, and how they are vincible. Here's the link to "Hurt Feelings." All videos should be watched at home!

Robo-Aggression: 2 coats. Watch out! The Humans are Dead because the robots are taking over.  Steel grey creme that leans a little green at times.

Rent Boy: 2 coats. A deep red creme. These next three polishes are very blackened and appear black on my nails. As you zoom in, you can see the scarlet. I can't wait to stamp with this. Here's the inspiration but again, watch at home and not at work or with children.

Too Many Misters: 2 coats. A darkened forest green. Just like Rent Boy, it appears almost black. At first coat, you can see the green, and the second coat appears black. I totally love love the song this is based off of. Totally NSFW but worth a watch. I hope you are inspired to watch this show! Here's the inspiration.

Orly Sparkling Garbage over OPI Damone Roberts 1968

Nothing to Disclose
Here's an awesome NOTD I did.

In a Facebook group I'm in, someone posted this gorgeous combo and I immediately copied her (and let her know about her combination genius!). It feels really good to go into my Helmer and pull out older, unused polishes. I've been doing this a lot lately and it feels just so satisfying.

I started with two coats of OPI Damone Roberts 1968 which is a gorgeous minty green! Then I topped it off with Orly Sparkling Garbage which is an awesome holo top coat. It is tinted green but it really doesn't show up in one coat. So it makes for a great holo glitter top coat with one coat, or with more, the green tint comes through!

Again, I apologize for the disappearance!  I wore this for a week actually. Because I had no time to do my nails, TEAR. I stamped over it the last day before I took it off. I'm showing you below, but my nails were chipping so I'll review this awesome plate for you in the next few days.

We are finally in consistent spring weather so what better way to celebrate than with the Zoya Petals. The Earth Day promo is going on now and ends TONIGHT April 30th so you can pick up these beauties with that deal. Let's check out swatches!

Tulip: 3 coats. This is a pastel salmon color with a slightest hint of shimmer. I love salmon and coral on my nails so I enjoy this one! This was 3 coats to level out plus top coat.

Tulip plus 1 coat of Leia: SHIMMER. Leia alone never reaches full coverage, so instead, I'm layering them. I did the dry brush nail art HERE and it was a perfect base.

Laurel: 3 coats. Laurel is more pink than Tulip and the shimmer is much softer. It's pretty but it's a common pastel pink.

Laurel plus 1 coat Leia: Just adds such gorgeous shimmer.

Azalea: 2 coats. Bright pink with a fuchsia shimmer. The shimmers in the next three are much more complex. They are rainbow-y in person.

Azalea plus 1 coat Leia:

Aster: 2 coats. Periwinkle shimmer with the same complex shimmer. I love this color. very unique. Formula was great.

Aster plus one coat of Leia. It totally lightens Aster to a lavender.

Zahara: 3 coats. Coral intense shimmer. I love this color. It's iridescent and sparkly and delicate. Really a winner in my book. I didn't put Leia over this because I decided to do a gradient!

My favorites are Zahara and Aster. But as I was swatching them, I was feeling so springy and just enjoy these pastels.

I realized this year that I love leopard print on my nails, but nowhere else! So when I received this adorable art palette ring, I knew I needed to do some neon leopard print now that it's getting warm!

Neon Leopard Print with Born Pretty Art Palette Ring

Neon Lisa Frank-inspired Leopard Print with Born Pretty Art Palette Ring

I began with a white base so that my neon colors would pop. Then I grabbed a bunch of neon colors: Orly Tropical Pop, 2 unnamed neon Cirque prototypes (pink and green), Cirque Monte Carlo, China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy and Daisy Know My Name and I sponged it over the white. I topped that off with a thin coat of Orly Sparkling Garbage.

Then I grabbed my nail art palette and added black polish into the palette and began to paint on my leopard print!

A England Whispering Waves and Crown of Thistles with Cirque Colors Electric Sky

Nothing to Disclose

I took part in the big A England sale last month. I have to say, this was the polish I most looked forward to. And while this is SUCH a gorgeous polish, and I wore it for a full week, let's take a look at the sadness at the end of the post.

A England Whispering Waves and Crown of Thistles with Cirque Colors Electric Sky

Whispering Waves: 2 coats. A gorgeous, HIGHLY pigmented (read: staining--see end of post) teal scattered holo with a strong pink flash. I love it, but not the staining it leaves behind.

After two days, I decided to add a stripe of Crown of Thistles and place stars from Cirque Colors Electric Sky down the stripe.

And on to the sadness. Here were my nails after the removal of Whispering Waves.  I had already been warned that it stains skin badly and to tin foil my nails for removal. I did that and my skin was saved. Unfortunately, my nail beds were still destroyed. Two rounds of cuticle remover, scrubbing my nails with a nail brush and whitening toothpaste, AND a light buffing, I've gotten them back to normal but now they are very weak.

This polish apparently does its damage to most people. I wish there were a warning when I bought it, or maybe, there's need to be more testing on this polish. This is truly unacceptable. I'm pretty scared to ever wear it again. Or maybe I'll try it with a peel off base coat. So just beware!

Zoya Zahara and Aster Gradient, Mattified

Today, I want to show off a gradient I wore for an entire week, and no joke, I took these photos BEFORE I took them off! I think it's good every once in a while to show off nails after 6 days! I am so impressed!

Zoya Zahara and Aster Gradient, Mattified

These are two Zoyas from the latest Petals collection. I wish I swatched them all matte because holy cow, THESE ARE AMAZING MATTE!

I started with a base of 2 coats of Zahara. As you recall from my swatches previously, I mentioned I didn't put on Leia over Zahara because I wanted to wear it alone.  Then I dabbed Aster onto my tips. Zoya really lasts well on well. This combination was just all sorts of right on me.

Good evening! I know, I know. I've been absent. I'm back and in full force. I have tons of collections to show you, some stamping, some simple art. I recently had the chance to try out 13 new colors from Sinful Colors. There's a giant release of new colors in connection with Kylie Jenner, and I have 2 of the 3 collections to show you. I decided to do a WEAR test on Kashmere, so let's check out the results!

I always enjoy Sinful Colors but they aren't always on my radar. I don't go to drug stores too much and sometimes these special collections can be difficult to find in New York City. Now that I have tried on all 13 polishes and wear tested two, I'm telling you to search for the polish!

Kashmere: 2 coats. I decided my first one to try would be Kashmere, a taupe demi matte (kinda matte, but not so obvious in photos) with a faint gold shimmer. I was super impressed with the formula. I couldn't believe how well it looked in two coats.

I wore this alone for 3 days before adding some art.

I used the 5 other colors I received from this demi-matte collection to create some lines. I used Karma (pink), King Size (lighter purple), Krushed Velvet (darker purple), Kurtain Kall. These photos were taken BEFORE I removed the mani! Below is seven (7) days of wear! The only reason I changed it was because I'm a blogger and had a stack of polishes to play with! You can see a bit of tip wear, but it's really not bad at all. No major chips.

I am extremely impressed with the wear time of these polishes. The formulas were wonderful on all of them, and I will have swatches coming up in the next few days.  Sinful Colors Kylie Jenner colors retail for $2.99 and can be found at Walgreens. For more information, head to the links below:

I showed you art with 6 polishes from the demi-matte collection and today, I'm showing off these colors on their own. The demi-matte collection has a total of 13 polishes, so this is about half of the collection. Not one disappointed me, so let's take a look at the colors!

Note to self: don't go out with no nail polish on! I never fail to break a nail, so here's my shorties!

Sinful Colors Kylie Jenner: Trend Matters Velvety Demi-Mattes Partial Review

For all polishes, there is NO top coat to show off the demi-matte effect.

Kashmere: 2 coats. I showed you this as well yesterday as it was my base for the nail art and my wear test. It's a light taupe polish with a subtle golden shimmer that lasted on my nails for 7 days.

Karma: 1-2 coats. That's right, this polish was amazing at 1 coat! If I were in a rush to go out, one coat and done. For photos, I used two coats but it wasn't necessary. This is a mauve shimmer polish. When I think of mauve, I think of an older crowd, but I totally love this shade of darkened pink.

King Size: 2 coats. This is a royal purple with a much stronger gold shimmer. I really love this tone of purple. I think it will flatter most skin tones too.

Krushed Velvet: 2 coats. The same shimmer remains in this deep red polish. Definitely a gorgeous vampy color for fall. Be careful when removing as it did stain my cuticles slightly. Nothing remover didn't take off.

Kurtain Kall: 2 coats. This might be my favorite. I absolutely love this teal with gold shimmer and it was really gorgeous. If you like teal, you need this.

Kommotion: 2 coats. I know I'm repeating myself, but this is also a favorite. Kommotion is a cornflower blue with the strong golden shimmer.

From this collection, my favorites were King Size, Kurtain Kall, and Kommotion. Sinful Colors is so affordable though that they are all worth it. I really feel Sinful Colors stepped up their game with these new releases I'll be on the hunt for Kool as a Kukumber. Sinful Colors Kylie Jenner colors retail for $2.99 and can be found at Walgreens.
