Superbowl Nail Art: AstroTurf Football Field Art

Nothing to Disclose

It's just not me if I don't do some outrageous nail art. I love bringing out the flocking powder and couldn't pass up this opportunity! Since I don't favor either team, I'm going with generic football nails!

Superbowl Nail Art: AstroTurf Football Field Art

I started with a base of Barry M Spring Green. After I added my second coat of polish, I dunked my nail into green flocking powder! Doesn't it look like grass or AstroTurf? Then I added some football field details. No, they aren't to scale and perfect, but my nails aren't the right dimensions of a football field. Lol. Also, painting over flocking powder isn't the easiest.

Don't top coat this or you'll lose the fuzzy look! Flocking powder manicure usually last 2 days of me because the powder falls off so it's a fun look for today!

As I said yesterday, I really love New Orleans and they are most known for Mardi Gras! We are in the last week of Mardi Gras, so I thought I would do some fun themed nails throughout the weeks.

Mardi Gras Nail Art: Festive Layered Stamping

I began with two coats of Rescue Beauty Lounge Oliveto. Wow, this is an awesome mossy green with gorgeous pink shimmer. Just perfect!

Mardi Gras Nail Art: Festive Layered Stamping
Then I added one coat of Red Dog Designs, Here Comes to Parade (cubed). It's a great Mardi Gras glitter top coat. I especially love the circle glitters that represents the Mardi Gras coins.

Then, using Zoya Giada and UberChic plate 2-03, I stamped on the purple over the glitter! Oh my, I just love love love this. I wanted the glitter coins to pop, so I topped it with one coat of matte coat.

February is the month of holidays and events! Groundhog Day, Super Bowl, early Mardi Gras, and Valentine's Day! I've covered the first three so for the next few days, I'm going to show some Valentine's Day art!

Valentine's Day Nail Art: Patchwork Hearts with Cirque Colors

I began with two coats with Cirque Colors Oporto. It's a deep red with a minimal holo flash and red glitter. It's vampy and not my normal color, but nice!

Then I added a heart with Cirque Pow Wow. It doesn't have to be perfect! I don't like aiming for perfection with hearts. It won't happen for me. Unless you use a stencil, it's really very difficult. I added dots around the heart with Cirque Modern Muse. Now it's looks like a patchwork, homemade heart!

Today is Valentine's Day! I've been wearing Valentine's Day nail art, but I slipped up and didn't get a chance to share it on my blog, and for that, I am sorry! I've decided to mark February a month of love anyway, since I have more look I feel like doing! I already ate a delicious Valentine's Day breakfast made by my boyfriend, so here's some lovey nail art!

Valentine's Day Nail Art: Hearts with Wings with Zoya Nail Polish

Zoya really is my go to for nail art since I have such a huge collection of their cremes! I started with a base of two coats of Zoya Lillian, a beautiful baby blue.

Then I used Zoya Hannah, Lara, and Audrina to create hearts all over my nails! I added some last minute white creme wings. I topped it all with matte top coat. I'll post one picture of it shiny, but I much preferred it matte!

More Valentine's Day looks! Let's get right into this sparkly look!

Valentine's Day Nail Art: Cupcake Polish As Good as Rose Gold and Stamping with UberChic Beauty

I started with a base of two coats of Cupcake Polish As Good as Rose Gold. This is definitely way more pink than rose good, but I love the color and how sparkly it is! It is so blingy!

Then I grabbed OPI DS Tourmaline and randomly added blotches around my nail. This is also sparkly but with iridescent glitter, not holo. It's a hot pink so it jumps off of Cupcake Polish.

After that dried, I grabbed UberChic 1-01. Now, I just ordered a clear stamper and clearly, that would have helped here! But I don't mind that it's not perfectly centered. It's kind of like the Love Twilight Zone! I can't wait to play with my clear stamper once it arrives though!

For Valentine's Day, I went away from pink and hearts and instead decided on some lovey birds!

Valentine's Day Nail Art: Love Birds with Moon Studs from Born Pretty

First, I laid down one coat of Cirque Colors Carpe Diem. The white base isn't supposed to be opaque but enough for the base to pop!

Then using a nail art brush, I blended together stripes of colors. From the yellow to the blue I used: OPI I Just Can't Cope-cabana, Cirque Colors Vigo, NYFW, and Selvedge. THEN, I dotted on stars with OPI This Gown Needs a Crown and OPI Push and Shove.

Lastly, I painted on my birds and added a moon stud from Born Pretty. Isn't it adorable!? I topped it all with one coat of top coat. The moon stud has stayed in place for a two days with just one coat of top coat. It's also not so 3D that it bothers me! I love them!

I know I am late with this one but I felt it was worth sharing! I wore this on Fat Tuesday and it's bringing me back to my love of chunky glitter! I shared this on social media but wanted to give you details. I'm also showing this because you can easily switch out the colors and do your own thing!

Mardi Gras Nail Art: Glitter Stripes with Indie Polish

I started with one coat of Cirque Colors El Capitan. It doesn't need to be entirely opaque but you need a base down.

Then I added stripes of three glitters: Girly Bits Bamboom!, KbShimmer Sun & Games, and Girly Bits Witch I'm Fabulous! I did 2ish dabbed coats of each.

My last step was to add a coat of Red Dog Designs Harlequin Ball which is a chunky purple, gold, and green polish that has giant circles and diamonds! Love it!

Today I have a BEAUTIFUL polish to show you.  This was my first experience with Ella + Mila polish, so let's get to my review and wear time! I'll be posting a tutorial for the end look too in a separate post!

Ella + Mila Midnight in Paris

Ella + Mila is a vegan friendly, even certified on the PETA list for animal lovers. It's made in the US and is 5 free! I received this beautiful color, Midnight in Paris, to review. Although I'm not sure what the color has to do with the name (midnight = deep blues, or dusky colors), I am really impressed.

Midnight in Paris: 2 coats. I could have probably done 3 coats for my long nails but it will only need two for shorter nails. It's a lilac polish filled with shimmer that shifts between blue, purple, and pink. The shimmer is really strong and you can see it in any lighting.

Born Pretty Store All-in-One Dotting Tool with Ella + Mila Midnight in Paris Dotticure Tutorial

Yesterday I showed you Ella + Mila Midnight in Paris and I ended the post with the dotticure I wore for a few days with great success. I wanted to share the awesome tool I used for that dotticure, along with my foolproof method to dotticures.

I wanted to create a feminine dotticure, pulling from the gorgeous shimmer in Midnight in Paris. I have this AMAZING tool from Born Pretty that I have to show you. First, look at the pretty lilac color and the crystals that adorn the tool. It makes it look so upscale! Make sure to click on the photo to see it full size!

This is an all-in-one dotting tool, meaning, it has an interchangeable head for dot sizes and ALL of it is stored IN the dotting tool itself. This will be perfect for traveling and when I go to friend's house to do their nails (my friends always ask!). Instead of lugging a set, I can bring this one tool. Since it's all stored within one tool, you never have to worry about losing one of the dotting heads.

Born Pretty Store All-in-One Dotting Tool

Once I chose my desired sizes (I used the two sizes on the right in the photo above), I got to dotting! Here are my steps:

Dotticure Tutorial

Step 1: Paint blue dots down the center of your nail with the large of the two dotting tools.

Step 2: With the smaller dotting tool, dot white dots in between the blue dots.

Step 3: With the bigger dotting tool, again, paint alternating blue dots.

Step 4: Top it with top coat!

The all-in-one dotting tool is available for $7.48. Although it is a pricier item, it's totally worth the cost for ease and portability. You can find all this dotting tool and other nail tools with this link: http://www.bornprettystore.com/6pcsset-nail-dotting-multi-size-dotting-head-nail-tool-water-marbling-tool-p-21724.html

Layla Ceramic Pink CE 17: Swatches and Review

A quick NOTD today of a Layla I received. Sometimes it's good to have polishes around that act as palette cleansers after lots of nail art, so here is one!

Layla Ceramic Pink CE 17: Swatches and Review

Layla Ceramic Pink: 2 coats plus top coat. (CE 17 since Laylas do not have names), is a pink toned beige with gold shimmer. The formula was a little patchy and needed top coat to smooth over. It may clash a bit with my skin tone, but it's a clean color that is totally inoffensive and the gold shimmer makes it better for my skintone. I see myself using this more for base coat than me wearing it on its own again.

It's February 29th! So that means it's leap top. To celebrate this extra day in the year, I'm playing on the game leap frog and showing off some frog nail art, featuring an awesome frog: Keroppi!

Leap Year! Leap Frog Nail Art

If you don't know who Keroppi is, he is an awesome frog from Sanrio. Most people have heard of Hello Kitty, but the other characters are awesome! I'm partial to Badtz Maru and Chococat too!

I started with a base of Cirque Colors Monte Carlo, a vibrant ocean blue creme. Then I used a white creme for the bubbles.

I painted on a Keroppi head with a base of Illamasqua Radium. It's a perfect Keroppi green! Hope you enjoy him!

Black and White and Red All Over Nail Art

Hi friends! I'm sorry for my absence. It's crazy time right now. I get 53 papers a week, at 3-4 pages each, and so, by the end of the day, I want nothing to do with a computer. I only get to do my nails like 1-2 a week, but I'm still taking photos to show you!

Black and White and Red All Over Nail Art

These polishes were gifts from Jen at My Nail Polish Addiction when she went to Europe over the Christmas holidays. I told her no gifts please! But of course, she sent over a few things,, including a few European brand polishes! I'm using two here!

I started with a red shimmer from a polish brand called Mavala! It's a fiery red with orange-gold shimmer. Then I used the Pupa matte polish over it! It dries sort of rubbery rather than matte but it's pretty cool!

Black and White and Red All Over Nail Art

Then because I can't stop myself, I added some white dots.

Black and White and Red All Over Nail Art

Then I fully matted the whole thing out of curiosity. It sort of looks like an abstract Mickey Mouse? Btw, how awesome is the Mavala matted?!

I have two collections that just arrived, so I plan to get those up and ready as soon as possible!

Cirque Colors Halcyon with Simple Line Nail Art

Cirque Colors Halcyon was a polish I tried to avoid and said I didn't need and then it sold out and sadness. So next time it restocked, I grabbed it and I'm so glad I did!

Cirque Colors Halcyon with Simple Line Nail Art

Halcyon is a 2 coater on my long nails but it will be one coat on shorter nails. It's a rose gold metallic polish with some flakes, but I wouldn't call it a flake polish. There is definite dimension in the polish! I love me some rose gold!

For my two middle nails, I put down 3 coats of Zoya April, a nice neutral color. Then I freehanded on triangles with Halcyon. My last step was to outline the triangles with Cirque Colors Sunset Park for a pop of brightness.

Because of my crazy schedule, I wore this for SIX days with only one tiny chip on my dominant hand. Insane wear for me!

I have been wearing A LOT of purple lately and holy mama, this does not disappoint! This was a custom polish, but Paint Box Polish KILLS it with this finish and she offers quite a few, which I'll mention at the end of the polish.

Paint Box Polish Fight the Fairies!

Fight the Fairies: 2 coats. This is an opaque purple microglitter and holy wow, it is so sparkly. What I love about Paint Box Polish microglitters is the formulas. I did zero clean up! The purple base really holds onto the glitter so that application is a breeze. No scattered glitters all over my nails. Here's a million pictures!

Good morning! Today I wanted to show off an easy plaid look using Jessica Cosmetics, so let's get to it!

I started with a base of Jessica Cosmetics Downtown Chic. Then I used Jessica Decadent and placed a big stripe down the middle of my nails. Jessica Cosmetics Faux Fur Blue, Blue Harlem, and Bohemian Rhapsody.

I wore this manicure for FIVE full days with zero chipping before I decided to switch up my nail look for my own sanity. I was impressed with the Phenom formula. I'm a college professor, so I am carrying tons of books, going through papers, writing on boards, so I'm not THAT gentle on my nails. I took these photos on day THREE.

Sometimes, my boyfriend will say super random things like "Do a Skittles manicure!" I asked him, skittles like each nail a different color or the candy? Of course he has no idea what the former was and clearly wanted a candy version. Here's an interpretation.

Taste the Rainbow: Skittles Nail Art
I started with two coats of Cirque Doyers, a bright red!

Then I added my skittles in a dotticure, in a wavy form.

Red: Zoya Hannah
Orange: Zoya Arizona
Yellow: OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana
Green: Zoya Jace
Purple: Zoya Mira

I topped it off with one coat of OPI Matte coat and I think it's awesome!

I started with a base of A Dragon is Not a Slave which is a bright green microglitter. It is so damn sparkly! I used three thin coats.

Then I topped it off with Waimea Waters on my tips which is a darker green microglitter that is heavily on the gold glitter. It was smooth with one coat of top coat!

Good morning! Today I have a brand new collection from Paint Box Polish that is releasing TODAY! Check out swatches of this Italian dessert-inspired collection and remember to use EHMKAY for 15% off your order. I am very obsessed with this collection, and I took pictures in different lighting, so let's get to it!

Paint Box Polish Ciao, Gelato Collection Swatches and Review

****Before I begin, I wanted to mention what I mean when I say 2-3 or 3-4 coats. I have very bright nails (my actual nail is very white) and 2 coats was perfectly fine in person, but in photos, my nail line was visible. The lesser number is completely acceptable IN PERSON, but if you were to closely photograph your nails like I did for today, one more coat may be needed. Photos are in this order: 1. Artificial Lighting 2. Direct Sun. 3. Shade.

Pusheen the Cat had to get involved. If you mention sweets, she is running to get!

Paint Box Polish Ciao, Gelato Collection Swatches and Review

Frutti di Bosco: 2-3 coats. I actually get this flavor every time I go to an Italian spot a few blocks away. It has all the fruits of the forest:blueberries, raspberries, blackberries. It's a pinky purple shade that is juicy and wonderful.

Puffo: 2 coats. Apparently this is a flavor that is like bubble gum or cotton candy. I must have missed it when I went to Italy, but I wish I tried it (I hate bubble gum but love cotton candy). It's a smurf-like blue that can look a little neon. It's bright, but pastel. Love it!

Ananas: 3-4 coats. This is a pineapple shade of yellow. Again, as I mentioned above, 3 coats will suffice but for photos, I did 4.  I really love yellow polishes. I don't have many but this one is just so right!

Bacio: 2 coats. Milk chocolate for your nails, which is appropriate since it is named for the chocolate treat that is frequently a gelato. So buttery. The formula is wonderful.

Melone: 3-4 coats. This really is exactly cantaloupe. It's like a fresh fruit cantaloupe smoothie that I want to drink. It is quite possible the palest orange I have ever seen and I love it.

Pistacchio: 3 coats.  To me, this is the green version of Melone. Just the right amount of paleness and it is so delicious on my nails. I love this and pistachio flavored things.

Fragola: 2 coats. This is the strawberry gelato and this pink is really fabulous.  Two east coats. And really, one sufficed if I were in a rush. Wonderful formula for a pink like this.

Stracciatella: 2 coats. The one non-creme/crelly, this is the vanilla gelato with chocolate shards. It's perfectly opaque in two coats. Wear time? I wore this for SIX days with no chip while I was on vacation. YES! This is the only polish I couldn't get sun photos for, sorry!

Along with the collection is a very appropriate Amaretto Tiramisu cuticle oil with notes of Amaretto, espresso, cocoa, mascarpone, and Madeira. This will be available in roller ball tubes or brush pens. THIS IS DIVINE AND YOU NEED IT. The end. Seriously. Trust me.

The Ciao, Gelato Collection releases TODAY, MARCH 19TH AT NOON EST. Each polish retails for $9. Cirque Colors Coronation

Just a fun NOTD. I decided to whip out an oldie but goodie and the ONLY polish that I have a backup of, Cirque Coronation! Let's take a look at this gorgeous polish.

Coronation: 3 coats. You could probably get away with two but I much preferred the depth of three. It's the shimmer that makes this polish, so I wanted more. Coronation is a deep purple jelly with indigo hues. It's complete with a copper to red shifting shift, ever so slightly holo bits, and tiny glitters. It's just amazing!

Hi All! Tonight is the start of the holiday, Purim! I'm always trying to do nail art for lots of holidays and of course I had to celebrate Purim. If you don't know what it is, you can quickly read up on it here!

Purim Nail Art: Hamantaschen Cookie Nail Art

Hamantaschen is a delicious shortbread-like triangular cookie (based on Haman's hat) and it is usually filled with fruit jams. You can find them filled with poppy filling and chocolate but I prefer apricot and raspberry!

I began with Paint Box Polish Bacio, which is a beautiful brown creme from the new Gelato Collection!

Then I mixed OPI My Vampire is Buff with I Just Can't Cope-Cabana and painted on triangles with rounds edges. For my apricot filling, I used Sparitual Kindness. My raspberry filling in Orly Torrid. I topped it with one coat of top coat and decided it would be better matte!
